Philip Massey Working hard for you and our community in Balderstone & Kirkholt
Following a campaign by your local Labour team against the no waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) proposed for Queensway, the scheme has now been rejected by a meeting of the Rochdale Borough Council Cabinet this evening.
Significant representations were made on behalf of local residents against the proposals, detailing the negative impact these restrictions would have had on the area. My Labour colleague Councillor Meredith then added that the proposed restrictions would not help with traffic flows onto the motorway, and that more significant parking problems in the area needed to be addressed.
The Cabinet dismissed the proposal unanimously, accepting the recommendations made by the Rochdale South Township meeting on 20 October 2020 to reject the scheme.
Your Labour Team campaigned against this scheme from the start as it would have further reduced parking options in the Queensway, Hartley Lane and Queens Drive area.
